Zhengzhou City, abbreviated as "Zheng", historically known as "in heaven and earth", formerly known as Shangdu, now known as Greentown, is a prefecture level city, provincial capital, mega city, and design capital under Henan Province. It is a national central city, a national historical and cultural city, an international comprehensive transportation hub city, an advanced manufacturing base in central China, a commercial and logistics center, a gateway to opening up to the outside world, and a regional highland of scientific and technological innovation.

Zhengzhou is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization, one of the eight ancient capitals of China, with a total history of 355 years (excluding the Xia Dynasty). It is one of the six major heritage sites supported by the state and a member of the World Federation of Historic Cities. As of the end of 2021, Zhengzhou City has 83 national key cultural relics protection units, 97 provincial-level cultural relics protection units, 208 municipal level cultural relics protection units, and 6 national intangible cultural heritage lists. It is a transportation hub that combines public transportation, railway, aviation, and information technology nationwide, and has formed a transportation network consisting of three modes of transportation: railway, highway, and aviation.
